A collection of luxury hotels, The Leading Hotels of the World was established in 1928 through the collaboration of European Hoteliers. With its nine decade long history, they have established a reputation of commitment to providing remarkable travel experiences. Currently based out of New York City, New York, the chain maintains offices throughout major cities all around the world.
The brand started with the Hotel Negresco in Nice, the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, and the Mena House in Cairo. Originally known as the “The Luxury Hotels of Europe and Egypt”, they have since accepted more members and by the 1980s, their properties numbered in the hundreds. The brand has also formed close relationships with travel agencies and booking websites. They celebrated 90 years in 2018 and now represent over 400 properties in 80 countries around the world.
The Leading Hotels of the World has properties in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central America, Europe, the Middle East, North America, Oceania, and South America. In North America, they have members in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. In South America, they have the most members in Brazil and in Asia, the most locations in China. They have recently branched out to Oceania and have a property in Fiji.
