Nelspruit, Exploring the Citrus City of South Africa
Now formerly called as Mbombela, Nelspruit, South Africa is also known as the “Gateway to the Lowveld,” “eNaspoti,” and “Citrus City.” It is under the rule of the Mpumalanga province and also serves as the province’s capital. Mbombela was originally named as Nelspruit on its foundation in 1895. It was derived from the Nel brothers who were known to graze their cattle in the area every winter. It was only in 2009 when the city was renamed to Mbombela, which was named after the local municipality where the city belongs to.
