Suvarnabhumi Airport, also known as Bangkok Airport is located in Samut Prakan, Thailand. Its name translates into ‘Golden Land’. It is a public airport and is operated by the Airports of Thailand PCL. It is also the hub for Thailand’s flag carrier – Thai Airways. It is also the focus city for international airlines Cathay Pacific and Emirates.

Suvarnabhumi Airport is ranked as one of the busiest airports in Asia and is the 17th busiest airport in the world. In 2017, it handled an estimated 60 million passengers. Its airport code BKK was inherited from Don Mueang after the old airport stopped catering to international commercial flights. It has two runways and can accommodate 64 flights per hour. Construction of a third runway was approved in 2019.
