Brittania Hotels started its operations in 1976 upon the purchase of the Brittania Country House Hotel in Didsbury, Manchester. The founder and largest shareholder of the group is still Alex Langsam. Their second purchase in 1981 which was of the former Watts Warehouse provided a standard for their type of establishments in the following years to come. In 2011, the company was still determined to purchase existing labels so they bought North West holiday camp business with a $23,490,190.00 lock-in deal. Despite the challenges that came with these milestones, Brittania still enjoyed the period of 2005-2015 as its fastest expansion as they took over 23 hotels in that decade.
